88 Minutes

88 Minutes

88 Minutes – Jack Gramm (Al Pacino) is a professor in the Seattle college, who is also associated with FBI as a forensic psychiatrist. He helps to solve the crimes related to serial killers with a lack of evidence. It is about death sentence time for one of them who says that he was wrongfully convicted. While the signature crimes continue, FBI tries to see if they indeed put the wrong guy behind the bars. At the same time, Jack receives a phone call that says that he has exactly 88 minutes to live. He gets the calls, packages and different signs every few minutes and tries to figure out who is the caller before his time goes out. He narrows it down to just a few suspects, but it is not easy to find the one.

The movie is great and makes you watch and pay attention to every small detail start to finish. Al Pacino is great as usual, but other actors fit their roles perfectly as well. The plot it ok, I agree that there are some things that could’ve been done a little different and more convincing, however, it is great as is.

Here is the trailer that shows a few good scenes from the movie:

These are the actors that play in the movie:

Al Pacino, Alicia Witt, Leelee Sobieski, Amy Brenneman and Deborah Kara Unger

We would recommend to watch it. Grab a DVD and enjoy this good thriller.

Lakeview Terrace

Lakeview Terrace

Lakeview Terrace – Abel Turner (Samuel Jackson) is an L.A.P.D. officer. However, he pays extra attention to guarding his neighborhood and has a problem with the new couple – Lisa and Chris who move in next door. Turner starts to make their lives a little bit more complicated since he would like them to move out because he doesn’t like the new interracial couple. One day Turner finds his daughter spending time with Lisa, and that’s where it gets worse. The officer tries to use his police contacts and does everything possible to get read of undesired neighbors, but the couple is not going to give up without the fight. The battle crosses the legal barriers and that’s when the fun begins.

The movie didn’t promise much at the beginning. It starts a little bit slow, but then it gets really intense and interesting. Probably one of the best late movies of Samuel Jackson. The plot is pretty interesting and touches a few important aspects of our lives such as racism. Every next minute of the movie just keeps on getting better and better. Good plot, good ending, good acting… What else do you need? :)

The trailer (below) goes over the story in short and shows some of the good moments, but the movie has a lot more to offer. Check it out and if the trailer would be interesting to you, we are pretty sure that you’d like the movie.

These are the actors that make this movie great:

Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Wilson, Regine Nehy, Kerry Washington and Jaishon Fisher

We would recommend watching this one, grab a DVD as soon as it comes out.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Journey to the Center of the Earth – Trevor Anderson is a science professor who has these weird hipoteses. All academic community is making fun of him, however, one day everything changes. On the expedition to iceland he, his nephew and a local guide make a discovery that takes them all the way to the center of the earth, where they go through new worlds and face thouthands of weird creatures.

The new 3D technology makes this movie really unique. It makes you feel like you are a part of the movie. Even if you don’t get to watch it in 3D, this is definetely something that you would enjoy if you are a fan of adventure movies like Indiana Jones. The movie is definetely good to watch with the family. The story is pretty good, would be interesting for adults and kids 8 and over. I wouldn’t recommend the movie to younger ones since it does have a few scenes that can scare them a little.

The trailer is below and gives an idea of what to expect. It shows some of the good moments, however, the movie has a lot more to offer:

These three actors are the main characters in the movie:

Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson and Anita Briem

We would recommend watching it and it is on our list to buy when it comes out.

The House Bunny

The House Bunny

The House Bunny – Shelley Darlington is a PlayBoy bunny and gets kicked out of the PlayBoy Mansion for being too old right on her birthday after she lived there for nine years. With no place to live and no job she runs around Los Angeles, until she finds the worst sorrority on campus – Zeta Alpha Zeta. While Shelley teaches the girls to become more popular, she learns some things from them as well.

The movie looked like a stupid chick flick at first, but it actually had a few funny parts and exceeded the expectations. I thought it would be way worse then it is, however, I probably wouldn’t want to see it again. Once is enough and if you haven’t seen it yet, go grab a DVD when you see it out. Good movie to watch with a girlfriend. The plot is pretty lame, but that’s how it was intended to be. :)

The trailer below goes over the story and shows some funny moments. Basically, if you don’t like the trailer, I doubdt that you’d like the movie. We went through some other reviews on the web and it is rated pretty high, much higher than what we would rate the movie. Anyway, here is the trailer:

The actors that play in the movie:

Anna Faris, Emma Stone, Colin Hanks, Kat Dennings and Beverly D’Angelo

Our recommendation: not sure, watch the trailer first. :) If you like this kind of movies, you would probably like this one.

Ghost Town

Ghost Town

Ghost TownBertram Pincus plays a big “jerk” until he dies and suddenly comes back to live in seven minutes (or a little under seven minutes). Pretty strange, however, it gets even stranger – he now can see the ghosts. Sounds like a good ability? What if the ghosts actually want something from you? One of these ghosts is Frank Herlihy, who really needs to break up the marriage of his wife (widow now I guess) since her new husband is a pretty bad guy.

The movie is just great and I don’t regret the time I spent watching it! It is very funny for the most part, however, it has some touching scenes that almost make you cry as well.

Ricky Gervais fits his role perfectly and seems like this movie was made for him. Definetely going to wait for it on DVD and wouldn’t mind having it in my movie collection.

Here is a trailer that just goes over the story in brief and if you like the trailer, I am pretty sure that you’ll like the movie:

These actors play in the movie:

Ricky Gervais, Téa Leoni, Billy Campbell, Greg Kinnear,  Kristen Wiig

As already said, we would recommend this movie. Rent it as soon as it comes out.

Burn After Reading

Burn After Reading

Burn After Reading – This is another Coen brothers movie, however this one is a little different. Basically, two gym employees find a computer disc of the CIA employee Osbourne Cox. The disc falls out of his bag in the locker room, and the two gym employees – Chad (Brad Pitt) and Linda (Frances McDormand) try to blackmail Cox when they find out what the disc is. At the same time, Linda finds Harry (George Clooney) on one of the dating sites who also has an affair with Katie. Katie just turns out to be Osbourne’s wife, who plans to leave Osbourne for Harry. That’s where the movie takes place as she tries to figure out Osbourne’s financial situation preparing for the divorce.

With so many talented actors, you would expect the movie to be perfect, but you know how Coen brothers movies are. Some people really love it some really hate it. This one is no exception. I thought that the movie was pretty funny and had a few really really good parts. The actors were brilliant and performed to their best as well. No matter how much your kids like Brad Pitt, it is reated “R” for a reason. :) I think this one is definetely worth watching.

Here is a trailer, kind of goes over a story in short:

Here are the actors that play in the movie:

Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton.

We would recommend watching the movie, but depending on your taste, you may think that it is the worst movie ever. I think it depends on how much you like the “R” part of it. :)

Tropic Thunder

Tropic Thunder

Tropic Thunder – the movie is about the actors who are trying to make the most expensive war movie, however, the studio decides to cancel the production in the middle of it because of the high costs. That’s where the director steps in and takes control over the film. He takes his crew to the jungles in Asia, where they accidentally get mistaken for invaders and face the real soldiers.

With all the actors that play in the movie you can’t expect it to be boring, and it is not. It is pretty funny, however, I expected a little more from these guys. The acting part was brilliant and many parts of the movie were pretty funny. I guess my expectations we a little too high before watching it. If you are going to watch it, don’t expect too much and you wouldn’t be disappointed. The movie is pretty funny overall. I’d watch it again.

The movie is rated R and I wouldn’t let my kinds watch it, besides, not sure if they would even understand how this movie makes fun of Hollywood.

Watch the trailer below and you will get the understanding of what the movie is about.

These are the actors that play in Tropic Thunder:

Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. (he is pretty funny here), Jack Black, Tom Cruise, Steve Coogan, Jay Baruchel and Brandon Jackson.

Overall we would recommend to watch this movie in the theatre, rent or buy it on DVD.

Babylon A.D.

Babylon A.D.

Babylon A.D. – The movie takes place in the future, where every move is being watched by satellites. Most of the planet is in war and most of the humans are violent and strong warriors. One of the warriors if Toorop, who goes by a simple rule – Kill or Be Killed. He was asked to smuggle a special woman from Kazakhstan (you probably know this one from Borat :) ) and bring her to New York. They have a very long trip, and need to go through half of the world, crossing Europe, Russia, Ocean, Alaska and Canada. The woman, who’s name is Aurora, is hiding something, and as the movie shows later, she is the key to the future of the planet. And that’s the day that Toorop dies trying to make a decision whether he should save or sacrifices himself.

The plot of the movie is pretty strange and doesn’t seem to be making much sense. I didn’t like how the whole movie was made of the pieces and how it ended. The only reason to watch this movie is to see some action and Vin Diesel, even though he is not too good in this one. Most of the movie doesn’t make much sense, at least to me.

As for the trailer, please watch it below. It shows some parts of the movie and this is how the movie goes. Can’t really have an idea of what to expect from the trailer, but the movie is the same.

Actors playing in this movie:

Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Charlotte Rampling, Gerard Depardieu and Mellanie Thierry.

Our recommendation: The movie wasn’t too good. Rent it if you want to see some action but end up being confused. Not going to watch it again, even if it will be on regular TV.

Bangkok Dangerous

Bangkok Dangerous

Bangkok Dangerous – Joe is a cold-blooded contract killer and he has to go to Bangkok, Thailand to assassinate a few people.  He hires a guy – Kong, who helps him with his tasks, but Joe plans to kill him at the end to cover his tracks. However, something changes inside of his heart… He falls in love with a local girl and starts to get into conversations with Kong, teaching him certain things. He breaks the major rules of the contract killer and gets into the problem with the big dog who hired him in the first place.

The movie was not as great as expected. Nicolas Cage is a talented actor, but this movie was not for him. The plot is simple, every next move is predictable and the acting wasn’t very good.

This movie would be good to watch when there is nothing else on TV, but I wouldn’t even rent it on DVD when it comes out, unless I’ve seen all the other new movies.

Basically, the short trailer below tells the whole story, you kind of know what to expect every time. As you can see from the trailer, the movie is pretty simple and it doesn’t get much better on the screen.

Not sure if you would know anybody except Nicolas Cage, but here is the list of actors playing in the movie:

Nicolas Cage, Charlie Young, Shahkrit Yamnarm, Dom Hetrakul and Panward Hemmanee.

Our recommendation: rent it only if you’ve seen the other movies or wait for it to come out on TV.

Death Race

Death Race

Death Race – The action takes place in the future in Terminal Island, NY. Brutal and violent racing competitions of the prisoners is the biggest sport.  The movie shows nice racing cars full of gadgets and weapons and prisoners driving those to their way to freedom or death. Basically, the prisoner is set free if he survives the race. One of the prisoners is Jensen Ames, who already served a few years in prison already and is ready to go home, but forced to enter the race. He was a NASCAR champion several times before and is sentenced for killing his wife.

The plot is pretty simple, but the movie is full of great action, just like the other Jason Statham’s movies. It shows plenty of hot girls, awesome battle cars, great racing scenes, lots of explosions and quite a few shootings. I would call it a brutal version of “Fast and Furious”, only better. So, if you liked “Fast and Furious”, you would probably enjoy this one.

Jason Statham is a great actor and I think this movie is one of his best. I would watch this movie again and will probably buy one as soon as it comes out.

Watch the movie trailer below, and if you’ll like the trailer, you’ll like the movie. It shows some of the great scenes from the movie, but the movie has a lot more to offer.

Actors playing in this movie:

Jason Statham, Joan Allen, Tyrese Gibson, Natalie Martinez and Ian McShane

We would recommend this movie if you enjoy good action.
